IMMERSIVE BONSAI PROGRAM
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
As its name suggests, the Immersive Bonsai Program is meant to provide students from around the world with hands-on, fully immersive learning opportunities in the heartland of bonsai art (Kyoto, Japan) under the tutelage of Bjorn L Bjorholm. Participants will have the opportunity to prune, style, and wire historically significant bonsai, including Kokufu-ten, Sakufu-ten, and Taikan-ten trees, as well as design bonsai from raw material sourced from around Japan. Choose from single-day programs or extended-stay programs of up to four weeks.
CUSTOM PROGRAMS
Students will have the opportunity to custom-design their programs, from selecting the focus of their bonsai learning (i.e. wiring, styling, seasonal maintenance, species, level, etc.) to guided garden excursions in Kyoto to suiseki hunting in the famous Kamogawa and Kuramagawa rivers. When you sign up via the form below, please be sure to indicate what you wish to accomplish and learn during your time at Eisei-en Kyoto.
PROGRAM LENGTH
Choose from single-day study programs or from one to four week long programs. Each week entails a schedule of Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm. Eisei-en Kyoto will be closed on weekends.
WORKSHOP SIZE
In order to provide the highest quality educational experience for our students, workshop size will be limited to one to three participants at a time, working under the guidance of Bjorn L Bjorholm on site at Eisei-en Kyoto Bonsai Garden in NE Kyoto. This will allow for a more personalized experience, one which can be customized based on your personal needs and desires.
