Late season juniper side veneer(scion) grafting

While reading an article in Bonsai Focus 4/2021 on needle juniper grafting, the featured artist says that he scion grafts junipers year round (except for the coldest months). So, on July 11, I thought I'd try this out on a san jose juniper. The last two pics are from today. It's too early to draw a definite conclusion, but, it's promising.
