This past week, Nanxi and I hosted a group of 19 people from all over the globe on our World Bonsai Convention Japan Bonsai Tour. The group couldn’t have been any better, with personalities gelling from the get-go.
We spent the first couple of days sightseeing in Kyoto, specifically in the Arashiyama area of western Kyoto and in Uji to the southeast. We then headed up to Shizuoka to visit Azuma-en and Taisho-en nurseries. Watch the vlog for the first half of the week below!
The second half of the tour was spent at the World Bonsai Convention in Saitama, followed by a trip to Masahiko Kimura’s garden and Kunio Kobayashi’s Shunka-en Bonsai Museum. The convention was utterly mind-blowing, with some of Japan’s most famous bonsai on display and world-class demonstrators from around the globe. And of course, visiting Mr. Kimura’s and Mr. Kobayashi’s gardens is always a treat. Watch the vlog for the second half of the tour below!
